This week reminded me that parenting is mostly improv.

We had a snowstorm roll through Sunday into Monday (as most of you probably experienced), dumping about a foot of snow and triggering rescheduled appointments, wet socks that defied logic, and a four-year-old who lasted exactly 30 minutes outside before retreating for peppermint cocoa and ABC Mouse.

Meanwhile, my baby has officially entered his tiny alligator era. Diaper changes now require strategy, gravity, and sometimes my leg just to snap his clothes closed. Occasionally, he escapes entirely and tries to crawl away, naked baby butt and all!

Teething has made the little one extra fussy, but he lights up whenever his big brother talks to him or starts singing. Instant entertainment.

I am touched out, the house is loud, and nothing is going exactly as planned.
But for a few minutes, one kid is warming up, one kid is entertained, and I find myself smiling at the smallest moments inside the chaos.

Some days, that’s the win.
And some days, it’s just parenting being exactly what it is.
