Ghosts, Giggles, and Memories

Ghosts, Giggles, and Memories

Growing up, I didn’t go trick-or-treating. My brother and I spent Halloween handing out candy to our friends while my mom queued up a movie. Back then, I remember wishing I were out with everyone else. As I’ve gotten older, the hoopla around Halloween doesn’t quite hold the same. I’d rather make memories than spend a small fortune on costumes and decorations that last just one night. My son, however, very much enjoys the costumes — so we use them year-round.

So if you’re looking for alternative Halloween ideas for kids — or just a quieter way to celebrate together — here’s a simple family Halloween project to try:

👻 Handprint or Footprint Ghosts
Grab some black or orange paper, white paint, and little hands (or feet!). Make prints, let them dry, then add ghost faces or turn them into pumpkins or monsters. It’s one of those simple Halloween crafts that takes minutes but becomes something you’ll pull out year after year — a keepsake that grows more special with time.

Want a twist? Create a paper Family Pumpkin Patch, where everyone decorates a pumpkin to represent themselves this year, or make glow stick lanterns for a cozy, creative touch.

Halloween traditions don’t have to be big or flashy. Sometimes it’s paint-streaked fingers, a cozy movie night, and the laughter echoing through your home that make the night magical.

🖤 Try this project with your family tonight and share how you made it your own in the comments!

From my road to yours, Happy Halloween!
