Have you noticed how your workspace might shift with the seasons? Through the winter, the space may become cluttered and cozy as it gets colder and darker outside.
And then when the sun starts to linger a little longer on your desk, you may look up and notice that your workspace has more clutter.
With summer on the horizon, the sun will be out more and it’s the perfect time to refresh your workspace so that it feels like a breath of fresh air.
Your Workspace Doesn’t Need a Makeover
We often see on social media a picture-perfect studio or an office that’s spotless. But the reality of a well-lived workspace is that it doesn’t always look like that.
A lot of times, for most creative people, there is something on the kitchen table or corner of the bedroom, or even a shared office space that can become overwhelming very quickly.
The goal is not a magazine spread. The goal is to just freshen your space enough so that you want to return to it.
Your workspace doesn’t need to impress anyone. It only needs to support the work and joy you want to create there.

If you’re feeling a lack of motivation, I encourage you to follow the light!
Open your blinds or curtains earlier in the day. Allow the sun to recharge you.
You could even swap out heavy seasonal decor for something lighter or clear one surface to brighten that area.
Allow your space to be a part of the season too.
A Little More Room to Think
Now, you do not need to start a full cleanout or declutter (unless you want to). All I’m suggesting is just a quick clean to create a little space.
That extra space will breathe life into your creativity and that space is what allows more creative thought to happen.
To start, put away supplies from a finished project. Just returning things back to their original place can make a big difference.
You could even step back and take a look at your space. Move one item that is visually noisy. Is there a distracting or off-putting item you have that constantly pulls your eye?
Clear just six inches of desk space. Enough to create a small landing spot for your next or current project.
Every room needs a little breathing room, and so do our ideas.

Refreshing your workspace is not only about removing or clearing things away. It is also about adding warmth back into your space.
You may add fresh flowers or a new small plant.
You can add a summer candle to inspire the season.
If you have a new photograph that has become your favorite, display it.
A meaningful object collected on a recent walk could bring daily inspiration.
Your space does not need to be sterile to be refreshed. Especially a creative space.
It can feel more welcoming if you have tiny reminders of beauty. And that matters.
Making Room for Summer
I often think a burst of creativity comes when we realize the sun lingers a little longer.
The longer days inspire adventures outdoors, spontaneity, and sometimes different creative patterns.
While refreshing your space, I invite you to ask yourself:
What kind of season am I hoping to have?
Does your space just need a facelift or do you need a little motivation too?
If you are looking to write more, keep a notebook visible.
If you’ve been delaying a project, display the supplies.
If you’re looking for tranquility, reduce your visual distractions.
A room of collected memories can often inspire more adventure.

Just remember perfection is not the goal. Just a little progress is.
Refreshing your creative space is about creating a place that feels good to return to.
A little more light. A little more air. A little more room for whatever this season brings.
I would love to hear from you.
What’s one small change you’d love to make in your creative space this summer?
Share it in the comments.
From my road to yours, happy wandering.
